Le French Festival, Jersey

7-16 July 2017

‘Le French Festival’, a week of cultural activity celebrating Jersey’s links with France, will take place in July, nearly 30 years after the last Festival France-Jersey.

The new initiative is a collaboration between the Alliance Française de Jersey, the Maison de la Normandie et de la Manche, the French Consul and the States’ Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture Department, each offering a range of different events in a week spanning Bastille Day from 7 to 16 July.

Appeal to every taste

There’s something to appeal to every taste from music and cinema to French food and drink, a pétanque tournament, exhibitions, a week-long Norman market at the Weighbridge and a special tour of the Island exploring sites associated with Victor Hugo’s period of exile in Jersey.

It’s not just arts and heritage

Festival activities also include the arrival of a regatta of 110 yachts taking part in the Tour des Ports, a race in the waters of the Channel Islands and La Manche with 700 participants; and a pétanque competition organised by the Alliance Française at the Weighbridge.
